Fahmi Quadir is a 27 year old short seller who recently raised $200 million dollars for her short only hedge fund, Safkhet Capital. Quadir identifies companies that are fraudulent and /or unethical, and then bets against those companies (shorts their stocks). Quadir is known for shorting Valeant Pharmacuetical, a company that massively inflates the prices of their drugs. Short sellers can be targeted by companies and Quadir has had to move her office three times since opening the fund in January 2018 because of cyber attacks. Her story can be seen on Netflix’s series Dirty Money episode “Drug Short.”
